Local musicians are invited to submit their hottest tracks for a chance to become Sunshine Village's official rock star.
Alberta's favourite ski and snowboard resort and Rockstar Energy Drinks have teamed up in search of local talent – that is, musicians from southern Alberta – to represent the resort.
Winners of the contest will receive 4 Nokia 6790 Surge phones as prizing.
Winners will also earn a spot on the bill for Sunshine Village's Spring Concert Series, as well as having their music used in Sunshine's promotional videos and the Shine Guide for the 2010-'11 season.
The winning act will also be the featured artist on the Sunshine Village Rockstar Sampler CD.
"This is an exciting opportunity for some great local bands, artists and DJs to get their work out there," said Doug Firby, associate director of communications for Sunshine Village.
All work must be original music – audio or video – and can be submitted at rockstar.skibanff.com
Once music is uploaded, much of the power lies in the hands of the voting public – so artists are encouraged to rally their fans and get them to cast their ballots. (Winners will be determined through a combination of popular vote and an independent panel of judges.)
When the contest closes on March 15, a panel of judges will pick the winner.
Music submitted must be suitable for all ages.
